Migrante International will push anew for the immediate repatriation of some 250 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stranded for six months in Doha, Riyadh, and Jeddah when it meets with Labor Secretary Marianito Roque and OWWA administrator Carmelita Dimzon this Tuesday.
The alliance of Filipino migrant organization said 51 workers in Doha deportation center, 89 in Annasban Co. in Riyadh and over a hundred in Jeddah deportation center are hoping to be repatriated before Christmas.
Some five OFWs stranded at the Malaz Jail in Jeddah, and another three are also expecting for immediate repatriation. “We and the families of these workers will insist to Dimzon and Roque to fast track action before Christmas ends,’’ said Connie Bragas-Regalado, Migrante chairperson.
“Secretary Roque should prompt his officials to hurry in order to bring home distressed OFWs before Christmas Day,’’ she said.
Regalado said the OWWA administrator had made a promise to provide assistance, including plane tickets for stranded for stranded Filipino workers.
